Spring 2026 Interior Design Trends to Expect

Spring 2026 Interior Design Trends to Expect

Spring is almost here, and after a grey, rain-soaked winter, we’re already seeing the interior trends set to take centre stage next season.

The new season is all about authentic, immersive styling to create homes brimming with personality and comfort. Think layered textures, rich wood tones, and injections of colour.

The Return of Walnut

Rich walnut is set to make a resurgence. Expect to see more deep, chocolatey finishes feature across statement furniture, wall panelling, and decorative details.

The shift towards darker wood tones nods to a more traditional interior style, leaning into a classic aesthetic rather than a modern look.

Texture-Maxxing: More is More

Home should feel like escapism, and “texture-maxxing” is the latest trend designed to enhance that coveted sense of comfort. Texture-maxxing is about layering different materials and fabrics to create a space that feels warm, tactile, and inviting.

Beyond piling soft furnishings onto a sofa or bed, this trend can be explored in more unexpected ways. Try layering rugs over an existing carpet — mixing textures and patterns for added depth — or use the walls as your cosy canvas.

Texture can be introduced through panelling, whether that’s the 3D appeal of slatted wood panels or the timeless charm of classic MDF tongue-and-groove.

The key to mastering this look is to abandon the “less is more” mindset and embrace an abundance of textures. Experiment with contrasting fabrics, finishes, and surfaces to craft a room that feels rich in character.

Spring Colours

There is never one definitive trending colour, but we predict that powder pinks, deep teal, and icy blues will take centre stage as the warmer months approach.

The best part about incorporating colours into a room with the changing seasons is that you can be as subtle or as bold as you like. Small touches—through decorative items such as vases, flowers, or table linens—can gently introduce colour. Alternatively, you can make a statement with walls by using paint, panelling, or wallpaper.

While the colour capping technique is expected to become popular in 2026, colour blocking and colour drenching are likely to remain influential in interiors, as more people are inspired to experiment with vibrant new hues.

Bathrooms Beyond Practicality

People are moving away from viewing the bathroom solely as a practical space and are putting more thought into its design and overall aesthetic. The aim is to make the room feel like an extension of the rest of the home’s décor rather than a completely separate space with a different look.

This can be achieved by considering the home’s existing style and colour palette, and introducing those same elements into the bathroom to create a cohesive feel throughout.

As it continues to grow in popularity, MDF tongue-and-groove panelling is finding its place in modern bathrooms. Although not waterproof, these panels are being installed for decorative purposes as they can be painted in any colour, making it easy to complement the rest of the room and maintain a consistent design scheme.

While a new season doesn’t call for a complete overhaul of your home, experimenting with different styles, trends, and colours through simple DIYs and styling changes can help you breathe new life into a room.
