The ‘ber’ months are here, and are the perfect time to start making your home cosy. By incorporating textures and a rich colour palette using panels, you can make different rooms feel warmer in time for the chillier months ahead.
Create a reading nook using panels
Cultivate the perfect reading nook in a spare room or unused area, such as under the stairs. It will transform an otherwise empty space into a purposeful one and enhance your reading experience.
Before deciding on a panel style consider the aesthetic and feel that you want your reading nook to have. For a traditional library feel, use wood-effect panels, rich textures, and a warm colour palette to add cosiness to the room.
If you’re planning to add a reading nook to an already decorated space, consider using MDF panels as they can be painted to complement existing décor and colour schemes.
Country-style aesthetic
Given its warm and welcoming design, its no wonder that the cottage-style aesthetic has also become popular in urban homes that want to capture the charm of country living.

Panels give the option to replicate architectural quirks typically found in cottages, such as wood and exposed brick. Installing wood-effect panels can create the illusion of natural wood, making an open bedroom feel much cosier, while brick-effect panels can add country charm to chimney breasts or in kitchens.
Elevate your TV watching experience
There’s no time like Autumn to create a media wall that transforms watching TV series and films into a cinematic experience.
The rise in popularity of media walls is unmistakable, as more people are choosing to replace their traditional TV stands with slat panels. Not only do media walls serve as a contemporary focal point, but they are also easy to create as a DIY project.

How to install panels
- Prepare the wall: Ensure the wall is flat and level.
- Measure and calculate: Measure the width of the wall and divide it by the width of the panel to determine how many panels you need.
- Cut and position the first panel: If necessary, cut the first panel to length. Position it on the wall and level it. Mark where the panel sits level on the wall.
- Apply adhesive: Remove the panel, peel off the adhesive strip backing to expose the adhesive tape. Align the panel with your marks and press it back onto the wall, ensuring it is level.
- Install remaining panels: Once the first panel is secure and level, cut the remaining panels to length if needed, and slot them together one after another.
- Cut panels to fit: If you need to cut a panel lengthwise, measure the top, middle, and bottom of the gap where the panel will fit from the edge of the tongue and groove. Transfer these measurements onto the panel and cut to size.
- Secure with adhesive: If you cut off the adhesive strip, use a strong adhesive like No Nails (Pink Grip) to secure the panel.
